今回紹介するのは少しどころかかなり変わった競技、世界ひげ選手権(british beard and moustache championships 2018)についてまとめていきます！
比較的新しい大会なのですが、そのユニークさが受けて、毎年ドンドン大会が大きくなっているとのことです。
第4回目となる2018年の今大会はどんなひげが競われるのでしょうか！
世界ひげ選手権2018とは…会場も豪華！
8月18日にイギリス北西部にあるブラックプールで開かれた「英国あごひげ・口ひげ選手権」。
ノルウェー、米国などの海外を含め１１カ国（ドイツの参加者も多い印象）から200名を超える出場者達が各々自慢のひげを競ったようです。
大会のホームページによりますと、参加資格などはなく、
ジェンダーフリー、ナショナルフリーで、まさに誰でもウェルカム状態のようです。
昼間はお子様も参加できるようなイベントを開いて、
夜になるとひげチャンピオンを決める大会が行われるようです。
なんか不思議な大会ですね…
更に注目して頂きたいのは、その会場なのです。
エンプレス・ボールルーム(Empress Ballroom)というコンサート会場なのですが、
とっても豪華で、正直ひげを競うのにこんな会場必要ないだろ！と言いたくなるほどです。

私と同じ感想を抱いてしまう方が多いと思います(笑)
ちなみに普段は社交ダンスの会場などの役割も果たしているようです。
